of the panel benghazi attack of capitol hill today. briefed law americas behind closed doors about the findings. here is the finding. it says in part systemic failures and leadership in management deficiencies at senior levels. grosslien inadequate to break. the time line of the benghazi attack left four people dead including the u.s. ambassador to libya. more determined there had been no specific warning of a potential attack on 9-11. there had been several incidents on the days before the attack which should have set off alarm bells. the obama administration blamed spontaneous demonstration against an anti islamic video. it turns out there was no demonstration. wall street journal is reporting that surveillance cameras around the compound shows that to be the case the video confirming there was no protest before the attack. neither does it prove that al qaeda was involved in a preplanned attack according to the newspaper. the raw video was edited into a 10-minute presentation provided to law americas. they started kicking in doors instead of blasting their way in saying they didn't have the r

that was going on, unbelievable. 1965, america took the step to become a compassion nature nation where we would take care of the elderly. proposals that have been talked about, the republican budget basically terminating medicare or whittling away at it, increasing the eligibility age from 65 to 67, what is a person to do when they are 65 and cannot get private insurance and at the same time they want to do away with the opportunity that exists in the affordable health care act for an exchange that could possibly provide the insurance. they want to do away with that. come on. this is america. this is where we take caref the elderly and provide the services. medicare can be dealt with. we can deal with the inflation in medicare and in the affordable care act, many things were done to start on that process. for example, keeping seniors healthy, providing for the annual medical checkup, making sure they had the drug benefits, making sure that part d was available to all seniors, closing the doughnut hole in the medicare part d drug benefit. electronic medical records. infection rates in hospitals

what america wasl about. -- where i learned what america was all about. to impart any lessons about america on dan inouye would have been an honor but we may have taught him pales in comparison to what he tots. a few years ago danny told an audience that our greatness as a nation lies in part in our willingness to recognize the flaws in our past, including our treatment of japanese-americans, and our determination in whatever limited way we could to make amends. dan inouye served his country because of his dream of what we could be, a nation unbound by our all-too-human failings. he believed to his core that we are able to shed old prejudices and that our nation, de despiter flaws, shines with such bright promise that we can inspire remarkable service and sacrifice. a nation so great that those we treat with disdain or even hatred can respond with love that knows no limit. love is powerful as the love that dan inouye showed for all americans and for the very idea of america. i'm so grateful for the lessons that danny taught me, so grateful for his friendship. barb and i send our dee

people feel in urban areas and rural areas. the fact is the vast majority of gun owners in america are responsible. they buy their guns legally, and they use them safely. whether for hunting or sport shooting, collection or protection. you know what? i am also betting that the majority, the vast majority of responsible law-abiding gun orns are some of the first to say we should keep an irresponsible law breaking few from buying a weapon of war. i'm willing to bet that they don't think that using a gun and using common sense are incompatible ideas. that an unbalanced man shouldn't be able it to get his hands on a military style assault rifle so easily. that in this age of technology we should be able to check someone's criminal records before they can check out at a gun show. if he we work harder to keep guns out of the hands of the people there would be fewer atroscities like the ones in newtown or any of the lesser known tragedies in small towns and big cities all across america every day. since friday morning a police officer was gunned down in memphis leaving four children witho

, this is the population of the united states of america. this is a representation of the 300 million firearms in the united states today. nearly one gun per person. i say now is the right time to talk about this. more than 31,000 people die each year from gun violence. let me say this again, these are the last numbers from 2009. 31,000 people died in that year alone. 87 people die every single day. i thought that the vietnam war was wrong. every year 31,000 people to be killed. we must talk about a noun and that is what i am going and i am proud for the senator. i am proud of the president for doing what he is joined. we must all talk about this now but here is the thing. we have to do more than talk because we have talked before and we have cried before. we have to act and to me there are several things that we need to do. let me list what we need to do. first, we have to take the war off of our streets. we have to take the weapons of war also hours streets. the senators have the bills. second, we must ensure that local law enforcement is involved in revealing the concealed weapons permits.
